Staying Positive

Yes, I know it has been a while since my last post. I will do a quick update as to what's been going on. Last week on Friday I was so sick, and had 2 liters of fluids put through and IV. They couldn't find a vein because I was so dehydrated. I'm still on the Zofran every 6 hours. I'm on the dissovable ones now :) Everyday is different and I just don't know what each day will bring. We sold our house and are now looking for a new place to live.....we put in an offer and the sellers wouldn't come down in their price. I guess it just wasn't meant to be. So the search will continue. I hope my parents and my husbands parents are ready for some extra roommates :) I'll be fifteen weeks on Tuesday. Not quite half way there, but getting closer. My 5K is coming up soon and I haven't been running like I was a few weeks ago. The weather changed to super cold so it just wasn't fun running outside. So, that's my quick update.....

Keeps Gettin' Better

Well this week has been interesting. It's only Saturday night and I feel like it's been two weeks feeling like this. Time seems to go so slow when you want things to progress quickly. I feel that if I'm going to be pregnant, it would be nice if I looked the part. I'm sure I'll be retracting my words a few months down the line, but I just feel normal. And don't get me wrong, I love that I still fit into my size 8 skinny jeans that I've worked so hard to fit into these past few months, but I see all these cute pregnant girls and I want to join the club. Let me back track this week to Monday....I thought I was going to die. I had to stop in at work and get some papers signed at the court house. I climbed the backstair way all the while talking to my husband on the phone. As I got to the top of the steps there is a small table with brochures on it. I have no idea what the brochures were or what they talked about, all I could focus on was not falling to the floor...

9 weeks down, 215 days to go.....

I can't believe that I'm over 9 weeks along! My husband and I are very excited about our upcoming bundle and just can't refrain from telling people. So, it's official, we are starting to tell more people now, because I'm almost 10 weeks and it's safe to say that things will continue progress normally. And for the most part, this pregnancy has been normal, for those women who get to enjoy the morning sickness at all hours of the day. I continue to fight my battle with food and finding something that won't make me sick. I'm so nervous that people are work are going to start thinking that I'm bulimic! After every meal, run to the bathroom. Feel like crap for a few hours then feel hungry again! I try to eat as healthy as possible, but nothing at this point even tastes good....except fried food! The warm juices of a hamburger dripping down my throat just makes me sit in pure calmness. Now ask me in 10 minutes how I feel and it will be a different story. M...

It's Been Too Long

It has been quite some time since my last post. I took some time off from blogging to try and focus not only on the problem of not getting pregnant, but enjoying life and what opportunities I have at this very moment. I really started exercising, not as a way to lose weight, although that never is bad thing :) but just for something else to focus on. I love how my body feels after a grueling workout of sweat dripping heart pounding muscle enduring workout. I was getting a little carried away when all I thought about was when my next workout was going to be, and then it happened...... My husband and I took a little trip to Mexico for some much deserved R&R along with my mom and dad. It was a quick 5 day trip, but every minute was so worth it! I had been tracking my BBT for about 3 weeks at this time and my doctor said that implantation would not take place for 10 days after ovulation, so when we got back from our trip I still had to wait to find out. I took an early detection home p...

A New Year

Today starts a new day of a brand new year. Well, technically it's the second day of a brand new year. It was brought to my attention that I haven't updated my blog in quite some time. So that baby thing in on hold until my body figures out what it wants to do or if it's even something it wants to do. On another note, I have been faithfully working out and have maintained my 13+ lbs of weightloss since July 4th. I recently started utilizing CrossFit workouts with my husband and his good friend. Although I can't keep up with them, I try my best to work as hard as I can. I've also started teaching at the local YMCA - Pilates/Yoga & Spin Working out and sweating has become my new drug and I LOVE IT! My husband and I are celebrating our 2 year anniversary today - I can't believe how much we have done in the past two years; our adventures, our trials and tribulations our accomplishments and our failures. It's crazy to think that 2 years ago, on a Saturday tha...

Cooking & Exercise

What a great day it has been today! After working a 12 hour night shift, with nothing exciting happening, I was determined to make these pumpking muffins I found from The Nonpareil Baker They were delicious. A little time consuming but worth it for the crisp fresh smell of pumpkin coming from the hot oven on a cold windy day. Check out the recipe! HERE While I was allowing the cream cheese filling to freeze I decided to get a workout in, if I planned on eating a few of the muffins :) For those of you with cable television, Charter Communications has ON DEMAND with FREE Exercise TV. Over 200 different workouts! Here is a link for the 10lb slim down in 30 days. Free calendar and you can watch all of the exercise programs on your computer. Enjoy the muffins and enjoy a great workout! ~A

Answers.....

Well today is a new day! My doctor called this afternoon after a great kickboxing workout and some Pilates :) I had to offically take my first pregnancy test, of many to come I'm sure, to make sure I WASN'T pregnant. A part of me wanted it to come back positive, for just that possibility that a miracle had happened. But of course, withing about 15 seconds, I could already see the negative signs showing up. So I was FOR SURE not pregnant. So with that out of the way, I'm back to taking Provera for another 7 days and then wait for mother nature. I guess I'll just keep my fingers crossed that this time it will help my body get back on track. But again, back to waiting it out.

The Waiting Game

Oh how I hate waiting. And I'm waiting for the one thing that most people would love to wait for, or never have to deal with. Yes, that was me some time ago...Dreading that time of the month when you hurt with cramps, backpain, fatigue and you just couldn't wait for it to be over. Well, NOW, after having this so called plan of 6 months, starting in September, I'm waiting for my body to get with the program. I started on Provera October 1st. My directions: take 1 pill a day for 10 days. Then a period should show up within 7 days.... I'm waiting........ I called my doctor today, like she told me to do since I haven't started a flow within those 7 days, and she doesn't work Monday. So, I'm still waiting........ One more day....WAITING........

Infertility

So once again I attempt to start my blog on weight loss. However, I've entered a new chapter in my life. Babies. Well not quite yet, but we'll get there. Here's some history..... I was diagnosed with endometriosis in March of 2010, only 3 months after getting married. I had a laparoscopy and had 5-6 different areas. I continued treatment with birth control overlapping each month and when that didn't seem to help the symptoms I started on Lupron. For those of you that are familiar with this product you can attest to its wonderfulness as well as its downfalls. The Lupron put my body into menopause at the age of 24 :) Fun Fun fun!!!! On the first round of shots I did not have a hormone replacement pill which I wish I would have. I had shots every month for 3 months then took a break. In June I had a 3 month dose of Lupron again. The pain continued and I had a second laparoscopy with a tubular dye study in September, and here we are. Our game plan...... My OB/GYN wants to t...

Food

We have been eating food since the day we were born. As we grew older we looked to our care takers, whether is it was mom and dad, mom, grandma or whoever, and they taught us to clean our plate! Eat your veggies and fruit. Drink your milk! But as you look at society today - 15-25% of children and adults are considered obese according to MedicineNet. My husband and I just started a new plan to lose weight. I think we have said this about 10 different times since we have been married....which has only been a year and a half :) However, this time we have help. Thanks to www.myfitnesspal.com we are able to track what food we eat, how much, and track our exercise. What a great tool, and it's FREE!!!! For those who have smart phones, myfitness pal even has a free app to download to your phone, so even when you are on the go, you can still stay on track to meet your weight loss goals. You can even track your progress and follow other members and use them as a resource to keep you motivat...

Optimism

It's been quite some time since my last post. Yes, I started this blog in college and have wanted to make my posts more frequent, but just haven't found out what I truly want to talk about. My passions have changed in the past few years from sports marketing to fitness - spinning and pilates/yoga. However, I thought I would post something about the recent events in Alexandria - Below area few links to articles and news stories aired. I've realized that the facts that are presented by certain media mediums are weighted in one direction depending on which audience that want to get fired up. http://ksax.com/article/stories/s1964723.shtml http://www.echopress.com/event/article/id/82104

Technology Teaches in the Classroom

Finally a story with no sports...unless you consider technology and teaching a sport, and some may :) Technology Teaches in the Classroom Sitting alone at the bottom of the hill, in a quaint rural town near Alexandria is Garfield Elementary. A building known for its salmon-pink tin siding and the abundance of learning that provides for approximately 100 students. However, inside there is something that is hard to find in schools these days. Her classroom is unique compared to most elementary classrooms in a typical elementary school. Garfield Elementary arranges their classrooms centering around the media center, which is sunken in the middle of the school. Kindergarten through sixth grade surrounds the media center. None of the classrooms have closing doors to shut out noise or students walking outside the classroom. Andrews shares a sink with the neighboring third-grade classroom which open the room even more, and allows more noise to travel into the second grade classroom. The...

Reaching the Ultimate Goal

It's another hockey story, but taking the perspective of the player... One Step to the Ultimate Goal This is it. Sticks drawn at center ice, like a duel between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker. Only one can win, but it isn’t good versus evil, but the United States Hockey League vs. North American Hockey League. The Fargo-Moorhead Jets need to fend off the Force and keep up the fight. However, with a name like the USHL, and a reputation of top players, and likely National Hockey League draft picks, the Jets have met their match. A winning record and fan support isn’t going to guarantee to get them off the bench. Thousands of miles spent on gas-guzzling buses, with team logos painted on the side, has brought them to Fargo-Moorhead to play hockey. The junior hockey league is an opportunity for young hockey players to continue to develop their skill, and earn a college scholarship, and continue on with their dream of playing in the NHL. The rink is pac...

USHL and NAHL Faceoff

This is my first story- and one of three about sports. Enjoy...... USHL & NAHL Face-off Ice, snow, and blustering winds don’t keep these fans away from a hockey game. SUVs, trucks, and mini-vans of all sorts fill the parking lot. A line of 50 people stretches from the ticket window out to the sidewalk. It’s game time at the Coliseum, for the Fargo-Moorhead Jets. But the Force is coming into town, and plans to heat things up. Hockey isn’t something new to the Fargo-Moorhead area. From little mites to hockey elites, this town is filled with hockey. Currently, Fargo is the host to the North American Hockey League team known as the Fargo-Moorhead Jets. With the new Urban Plains facility planning to open its doors for the 2008 season, many people worry the Jets are going to be grounded. The Urban Plains Facility will be the home to the Force, a United States Hockey team elite tier 1 team, will likely blockade the hopes of the Jets continuing next season. T...

Product Placement

So many times I feel like I am bombarded with messages urging me to buy this, or buy that. As I surf through the channels at 2 AM, there is nothing but informercials on about a new weight loss program, or a video that will help you get ready for swim suit season. Whether it is on TV during your favorite episode of Grey's Anatomy, or in your favorite movies, there is constantly a demand for our attention for the products that our favorite characters use. I recently revisted my favorite TV series the OC and watched few episodes on DVD this weekend and noticed that even, in the first few episodes, there are the characters eating LAY's potatoe chips, and the bag is clearly marked. Producers were able to get Lay's to advertise within the first 3 episodes. The next time you go to the theater and pay $8 to see a new movie like Blades of Glory, see how many times you notice a name brand used or a product that is strategically placed for its aucience to see how it is being used a...

Pictures are Worth a Thousand Words

Kodak pictures has single handed coined the phrase "A picture is worth a thousand words." And I agree. Just this past weekend, while on choir tour, many pictures were taken of people sleeping with their mouths open, a few girls showing off their bling of Cobber rings, and many re-enactments of our favorite choir songs...MAO??(Inside joke) But regardless of the numerous pictures that were taken, we were able to capture memories that we will never ever forget. With that being said, and me still trying to catch up on missed homework and lost hours in the office I have to mention hockey and my lack of it this past weekend. The Jets were in Marquette MI hoping to clinch the division title with an acutal win, but failed to win, but still clinched the division. Crazy I know, but I'm still proud of them. Thanks to this great website found by a Jets player, I was able to relive the game through over 800 pictures taken of those games. I realized how great of a fight I missed...

Online Socialization

Here's a new idea. It's almost like a play date. What our parents used to set up to give us something to and for our mothers to have some time to socialize as well. They joined different groups to meet moms and asked what day would work for them to get together, well it has now gone to cyberspace. If you are alone and wanting to socialize and meet new people, MatchActivity is the place to be. People are able to post activities and then members can meesage eachother letting whoever posted the event that they are interested. He or she then rummages through profiles and decides who he or she will take to an event. It is a great idea I think. Check it out http://matchactivity.com/Default.aspx

Spring Break Whoo

Why is Concordia's spring break so early? I understand that yes, we get out almost two week earlier than most state schools, but seriously, why not have spring break around the same time as other colleges so we can plan vacations with other friends from different colleges? Not that I'm complaining, but Arizona was suppose to be 80 degress this past week. A whole 10 degrees warmer than what it was last week...Maybe they are looking out for us and our skin...reduce the amount of skin cancer in Cobbers. Just a thought.

Travel Disasters

Sports have a huge influence on my life due to the fact that I'm interning for a sports team. And secondly, because I have hopes of working for a professional sports team someday. I'm sure many people have heard about the bus fatailty that occured this past weekend. A sad story for all those people involved in sports. This hit close to home because of my devotion to the local minor league hockey team as an intern and the guys I have grown to love as individuals and accept their wild personalities. The Jets were on the road this weekend and they too had something to say about the incident. As the players sat around the lobby early Saturday morning, the buzz was the bus accident. Knowing that they too would be on the road in a few hours made them weary of what can happen on the road. It made me think of how, in a quick short turn, I may never see these players again. And the fact that the interstate 94 had been closed the previous night didn't make anyone feel comfor...
